Documenting Paving Systems

When specifying a Paving Asset Management Software platform for annual services.

FM-Pro- PavingfPro™ is a commercially available solution for building an inventory of commercial Paving systems.

The application software can incorporate detailed as built construction records with a document management area at both the facility and Paving section pages.

As Built Paving Systems

For the Individual Paving asset areas, the program will provide data areas for documenting.

Paving assessment information is organized and inventoried using references from the CSI master format, Paving type classifications. A widely used classification method widely shared between North American Architects, Engineers and Building owners.

As the sample below demonstrates using a combination of industry standards, naming and numbering will allow a consistent accounting of the inventory of Paving systems, even when using multiple service providers.

Flexible Paving32 12 00
Plant-Mix Asphalt Paving32 12 16.13
Cold-Mix Asphalt Paving32 12 16.19
Polymer-Modified Asphalt Paving2 12 16.29

Sample: CSI Numbering use of Flexible Paving systems where there is a general group noted by 32 12 00 and specific types under this category e.g. 32 12 16.13.  The addition of listing the Paving system components; subbase, layer descriptions, overlay thickness further enhances the as built information.

Paving System Construction
Existing Equipment typeDocument the layers of the existing Paving system type.
Core Composition

The core information is obtained by taking a Paving core; the information may also be obtained from "As Built" records.  Layer Type Standard entries are Surfacing, paving type, subbase. Provide a description of the layer type from the subbase up, or surfacing down. Include the Method of Attachment to the layer.
Core PhotosInclude Core Photos in report to document the equipment installation.

Summary

In the Paving system construction, list the Paving system components and method of installation subbase to the top surfacing. Including of the thickness of each component and the dimensions of each Paving component and the total thickness and specifications detail for the Paving system.

In Paving system details provide a description of the primary details, terminations and penetrations per Paving area.

The Paving defect area should support entering observed defects for each Paving area. The defect descriptions should apply to each unique Paving system as to provide the district the ability to track defects rates by each Paving type.
